Targeted Prevention

The Life Sciences 2026 Call “Targeted Prevention” is currently under review. This aim of this call is to fund innovative and impactful projects that have the potential to promote disease prevention and/or increase the number of healthy life years in a defined population.

A total of € 7.5 million has been dedicated to this call. The funding range per project is € 400,000 – €750,000. Joint Projects between scientists in Vienna and Lower Austria may request a budget of up to €800,000. Projects should run between 2 – 4 years.

This is a two-stage call:

  • Deadline for short proposals was 5th May 2026. 116 short proposals were submitted.
  • The decision regarding the short proposals is expected in early July. Applicants will be informed via email regarding the outcome of their short proposal. The Funding Portal will re-open for submission of full proposals shortly thereafter.
  • Deadline for full proposals (upon invitation): 6th October  2026, 2pm
  • The funding decision is expected in late March, 2027
